about IEAM

Many of those working in live entertainment or performing arts management do so in a small specialist unit, within a larger organisation. Others work in a small venue, relatively isolated, or maybe work from home.

There is a need for a "society", association or "network" to meet colleagues and compare notes, to enjoy training opportunities for themselves and their staff at an affordable cost, because many will be paying out of their own pockets. There is also sometimes a need to make one's voice heard in the rapidly changing world of live performance. IEAM strives to do all these things.

We exist as a meeting forum and to give professional training opportunities for people employed within the entertainment and arts profession. The Institute enables our members' to meet and discuss current problems, learn from each other and from guest speakers.

We strive to maintain high standards of professional conduct within the industry and represent that industry on issues of national and international importance. Occasional lobbying is undertaken on matters affecting the industry.

Our website provides links to members' sites and email addresses. Information is given on training and professional topics, members can be put in touch with others who have specialist knowledge in a particular field of practice. This is often good, impartial advice, given completely free of charge.

IEAM's Waterford Crystal Award for "outstanding contribution to the Entertainment and Arts Industry" which is presented at our annual reunion luncheon is nationally recognised and is nominated and voted for by the people who work in the industry. The profile, importance and accolade this Award represents continually grows with the caliber of winners accepting each year.

We continually strive to strengthen links between IEAM and other national bodies with similar interests, with the view to emerge as part of a united voice that clearly defines the role that Theatre, Entertainment and the Arts play within its community and the quality of life it provides.

The Institute is run for members by members on a non-profit making basis. If you would like to join us, offer your venue for an event, or feel there is some burning issue to highlight in our industry, please contact our Administrator, Shirley Carpenter.
